Wrestling Heritage welcomes memories, further information and corrections.

Ron Allcard was a Sheffield lad who worked at Brown Bayleys steel works and went on to own a greengrocers business along the Burgoyne Road in the Stocksbridge area of Sheffield. Sales also got him into wrestling. Not the sale of carrots and cabbages, but wrestling programmes at Somme Barracks. Getting to know the wrestlers he took up the sport himself. A dream come true for a young fan, from selling programmes to appearing on those programmes himself.
Fairground booths provided a tough foundation for entry into the professional ranks in 1968. “Most damage was done to my knees, kneeling to ask for mercy,” he joked when we met him around 2010.
With the name Ace Allcard he worked mainly for Morrell-Beresford Promotions in northern England and Scotland throughout the 1970s. Not exclusively though, he did travel south, and spent time working in Germany from 1976 until 1978. Ace Allcard disappeared from our wrestling radar in 1979. In later life he moved to London.
On the nights he wasn’t wrestling Ron could be found on the door at the Penny Farthing night club in Sheffield.
Ron was a tough, uncompromising wrestler not always staying on the right side of the rules. Opponents ranged from skilful lightweights Zoltan Boscik to the might of Andy Robins and Norman Walsh! An incredible spectrum of opponents that demonstrates not inconsiderable skill on Ron’s part to accommodate them all.
Ron Allcard born 21st September, 1942, died of cancer on 15th September 2012.
