Billy Angus

Wrestling Heritage welcomes memories, further information and corrections.

Wigan’s William Henry Angus was an older brother (by one year) of the much better known Harold Angus. He was born in 1904 to Ellen and William Angus, who worked in the colliery. Billy was a diminutive wrestler described as a featherweight. Our earliest find of him is wrestling Jack Walsh of Manchester at Ashton-Under-Lyne in March 1932 when it was reported that Billy was more speedy and clever than his opponent despite being fourteen years his senior. We find him involved in wrestling until the outbreak of the Second World War, but to nowhere near the extent of his younger brother.

A second Billy Angus was the nephew of Harold and wrestled as Gunner Guest.
