Amongst the higher profile names promoting wrestling after the Second World War was wrestler Leo Lightbody’s British Wrestling Enterprises, with offices in The Strand, London. Lightbody stressed that he was promoting Free-style wrestling which was very different from the All-In wrestling of the 1930s. This assurance led to British Wrestling Enterprises receiving one of the first licences granted by London County Council following their ban of professional wrestling. Wrestlers working for British Wrestling Enterprises included British Heavyweight Champion Bert Assirati. After four years of existence British Wrestling Enterprises ceased promoting in 1951.
