Jackie Pallo, he worked hard for his place at the top of the Bill. A man made for TV.
Earliest I have him is way back in 51.
An early meeting with Steve Logan also shown and the year of the birth of his Mr TV Persona 1961, I make it.
That put some extra swagger into Jackie and he kept it to the end. Maybe 1983??

I mentioned to Anglo Italian a few weeks back that the first time I saw Pallo I must have been about 8. I was playing out with my friend when his mum called us in because there was a man on the wrestling with pony tail and striped trunks. Sixty years later it’s hard to believe this could have been such a talking point. A great wrestling personality with a versatile style, I never tired of seeing Pallo though was never enthused by McManus.
Ron Historyo
Pallo had many ways of entertaining us in contrast and before the Hard Hitting Style of Rocco that came later.
He knew some great moves, could sell and was one of a few who was vocal. The striped Trunks, Pig Tail and little head swagger were a trade mark and he always had nice boots too.
I think he got a raw deal in not beating Mick more often.
Anglo Italian
On the downside, he was the instigator of the “walked out” result that we all hate.
I still wince when I think of his later bouts. He was so dodgy on his pins that he could hardly walk. He did a good job on his son as a wrestler but failed to dedicate brainpower to setting his son up with a gimmick that everyone would want to see and that would make him a headliner. They could have had a falling out and it would have attracted national attention.
He had some original moves.
Pallo with Kwango and Kellett in 1983: combined age over 200 years. Must have been more like a personal appearance à la Nagasaki in 2025.
Hack
Pallo not that bad the last time I saw him. It was September or October 1976 at the Kings Night Club in Birmingham. He was on with (an) Outlaw. And yes, he walked out.
