Jimmy Hagen

Wrestling Heritage welcomes memories, further information and corrections.

A versatile wrestler Jimmy Hagen could wrestle clean, mix it as a villain or even take on a comedic role. Middleweight Jimmy wrestled in Britain during the 1970s and into the mid 1980s. Admittedly not a top of the bill performer he certainly knew the business.

Born in Bacup, Lancashire he was an accomplished soccer player, on the books of Blackpool and played for Yeovil. Like quite a few others Jimmy’s introduction to wrestling came through the fairground booths.

Jimmy’s involvement in wrestling was extensive. Not only did he wrestle, mostly in southern England from his Bournemouth base, he also built and hired out wrestling rings, trained many youngsters and promoted shows, often on the holiday camp circuit, where he got the contract for Pontins, but also public halls. Jimmy was the owner of Solent Promotions until he sold the business to Ian Dowland.

Jimmy was the father of wrestler Robbie Hagen.

The wrestling world was shocked when Jimmy Hagen suffered a heart attack and died in February 2010.
