Historical Aspect or SHOW MUST GO ON!
But I would like to be back to our subject – that of the modern catch wrestling. As a matter of fact such “hybridization” which I previously mentioned is only possible in the pro wrestling’s showcase realities, so to say in a predetermined finish reality. And then it is an actual fun, first of all for the spectators, because it is fun to watch, rather than just watching an old-school single wrestling style show (whether it is Greco or historical Catch).
That is exactly why in the 1920s to make pro wrestling exhibitions look more intense and dramatic (read more fun to watch) the world’s leading promoters, such as Henry Irslinger, came up with an idea of creating a new type of pro wrestling which they called the all-in wrestling, and in which the matches are “won on either 2 pinfalls or submissions, or by a knock-out”; such wrestling showcase was an ultimate and most optimal combination of three different cultures those of the British (in face of the historical catch), the Continental European (which was represented by the Greco-Roman style) and the Japanese arts of self-defense the judo and jiu-jitsu. It was Irslinger who first internationally tried these kinds of amalgamation shows in the mid to late 1920s, all of which proved to be very successful, and after that being joined by a former English amateur catch wrestling champion Sir Atholl Oakeley they first introduced such shows in Britain. And that is how the “pin, submission and knockout” all-in wrestling first came into existence.
