Tottington’s Jodie Lee was one of the most popular British Wrestling Alliance female wrestlers working the rings of Britain and enjoying a global following with a multitude of adoring followers. She must have been unique in that she even wrote her own regular column in the Fighting Gals monthly magazine.
Jodie was a skilled wrestler who could hold her own with the best, including BWA Ladies champion Sue Brittain. Sue forecast that Jodie could become a successor to herself as British champion, but it never came to pass. Standing 5`10″ tall with a powerful build, she earned the title “Sexiest Legs in the Ring.”
The legendary Lady Satan stated Jodie was one of the strongest girls she had ever faced. This was hardly surprising as Jodie was named “Salford’s Strongest Woman.” This strength and popularity benefited others by her willingness to take part in charity events, both wrestling and performing her impressive strength acts.
In 1983 Jodie defeated Terri Kruger for the BWA North West area Title. She held this for the following two years. Standing 5`10″ tall with a powerful. Her skill and entertainment value earned her top billing within the BWA group.
Sadly, due to a serious back injury Jodie was forced to retire from the ring. She did however, make a short comeback in 2004. Still displaying much of her original skill the advancing years had taken their toll and unfortunately Jodie could not recapture her earlier prowess and left wrestling for good. While winning most of her matches, Jodie was always willing to acknowledge the qualities of her opponents and that she had taken lot of beatings along the way. But to her many followers Jodie Lee will always be a wrestling icon.
