Kay West

By Harold Weller

Harold Weller was the owner of Action Promotions, promoting British wrestling from 1978 to 1990. A member of the British Wrestling Alliance.

Kay West hailed from Bradford, West Yorkshire. An extremely lithe and agile lightweight, Kay’s speciality was high-flying moves such as the awesome Victory Roll. This move could prove dangerous to both wrestlers when applied.

Kay’s mentor was the late, great Akala Jan, who had high hopes for her protege. Kay had certainly picked up on some of her tutor’s doubtful tactics and could bend the rules when she felt it necessary.

Kay was introduced at the start of 1989 and her fast all-action style was gaining notice. Like so many young female wrestlers, child expectancy naturally gained precidence over what could have been an excellent wrestling career. Kay’s explosive debut proved all but short lived , and another young hopeful contender settled down to motherhood.
